Schnitzel

Schnitzel is Wilhelm's pet cat.

These are photo's of the nearly finished puppet. It's lighter than I thought it would be which is good as it's something that I have to hold for most of the show. It's slightly difficult to make walk without lifting it up off the floor, but it's quite easy to make it sit.

Name: Schnitzel
Age: 10 (I think he's quite an old cat).
Characteristics: Nosey, lazy, curious, playful.
Loves: Being stroked, Wilhelm, the mother.
Hates: The rats, Fredrich.

To help me understand how a cat moves and acts, I have done some research.
This is an old video recording of my cat, Jerry. It shows him first licking himself. This will help me when Schnitzel is sitting on stage and not doing much, I am able to manoeuvre him so he is able to lick himself, which is a very cat-like thing to do. The video also shows how some cats tend to flick their heads sharply to look around, which will also help as it will give the puppet something different to do.

On the 13th June on BBC Two, there was a documentary about cats on TV. I watched it to help gain more knowledge about what cat's get up to when their owners aren't around, which I think will be good to know, as I think in some parts of the play, I can move Schnitzel around the stage without being near Wilhelm or the Mother.
Here is a link to the show on BBC iPlayer.
