Hamelin

This is my blog for the 2013 Ashcroft community project blog. Here I will be keeping a log of the rehearsals and research on children's theatre companies.

In the final term at The BRIT School, the whole school comes together to create different community projects. Each strand is mixed up so that we can mix with other people who we wouldn't normally meet with.

'Hamelin' is an hour long show with singing and dancing, that is aimed at young children aged around 7-11. It is a retelling of 'The Piped Piper' and shows how people can come together to overcome something, and how theatre is important as it can (Quote from the show) "teach you stuff in a fun way. Stuff that you may not know about - about where you live - history". This is important because recently the government has decided to reduce the funding for performing arts, and children need to know that theatre isn't just sitting and listening to a story, but that it can be brought to life in an interesting way.
